Cook Time 4 minutes mins
Total Time 5 minutes mins
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp maple extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
In a saucepan, over high heat, boil the water.
Once the water is boiling, pour the sugar into the pan.
Reduce the heat to med./low. Stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Remove the saucepan from heat.
Stir in the extracts and a pinch of salt for added flavor and depth, if desired.
Transfer the syrup to a bottle or jar for storage. It can be used immediately or refrigerated for later use.
Don't let the syrup boil. It will crystalize the sugars in it.
Store in the fridge.
The almond extract is optional, but it does at a lightness to the overall flavor.
